BLESSING FOR COUNTING THE OMER:
Baruch ata Adonai, ELOHEYNU melech ha-olam, asher kiddeshanu bidvarecha
v’tzi-va-no al sifeerat ha-omer.
Blessed are you, O Adonai our GOD, King of the universe Who has sanctified us by your Word and commanded us concerning the Counting of the Omer.
Today is thirty-one days, which is four weeks and three days of the Omer.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in Adonai; Adonai will be his security. He will be like a tree planted near water; it spreads out its roots by the river; it does not notice when heat comes; and its foliage is luxuriant; it is not anxious in a year of drought but keeps on yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
Trusting Adonai takes a conscious effort to choose Him and His will for us. The humble heart trusts Him the moment they wake from sleep. The scripture tells us, “Cause me to hear Your loving kindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.” Psalms 143:8. The first action after waking is connecting with Adonai.
The humble heart doesn’t try to control its daily outcome. The scriptures tell us, “Teach me to do your will, because you are my G-d; Let your good Spirit guide me on ground that is level.” Psalm 143:10. “Trust in him, people, at all times; pour out your heart before Him; G-d is a refuge for us.” Psalm 62:9 And “In all your ways, acknowledge Him, then He will level your paths.” Proverbs 3:6. The day, though plans may be made, is given up to Adonai, trusting He’s guiding every step. “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
The humble, trusting heart is at peace amongst the chaos. “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3 The emotions are given to Adonai. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your G-d. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 “For G-d has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
A trusting, humble heart is developed in studying and applying scriptures, aligning ourselves with Adonai’s will for our lives. Similar to what John the Baptist said, we must have less of ourselves and more of Him. There are many things from ourselves, others, and things around us that pull our trust away from Him. It may even happen without our realizing it. But we are working on trusting Him in every aspect of our being by relying on His direction in our lives, reaching out to Him through prayer, submitting to His Word, and applying it. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to G-d. And the peace of G-d, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua.” Philippians 4:6-7.
Adonai, Everlasting King of the Universe, Blessed be Your Name. Thank You, Adonai, for Your great love and unfailing compassion. Thank You for Your goodness to those who seek You and have hope in You. I ask that You please reveal the areas in our lives that pull our hearts from trusting You. Please be with us in our repentance and guide us gently with Your everlasting love, drawing us closer to You. We want our lives to be like the tree planted by the water, not anxious when troubles come, still bearing fruit. Let our roots be watered by Your Word every day and moment of our lives. Thank You, Adonai. You are our mighty rock, our G-d in whom I trust. May Your Will be done. In Yeshua HaMashiach’s name. Amen.
